Bred by Hilliers and only just released for general sale, this fab new form stands out from the crowd with its compact form and abundance of fluffy pink flowers, which virtually smother that plant from midsummer. The autumn foliage colour is also said to be even more vibrant than many of the other smoke bushes too, so you can expect a pretty dazzling display! Even in spring, when the new foliage emerges with a pinkish bronze flush, it will earn its place in the mixed or shrub border.
- Garden care: In late winter or early spring remove any misplaced, diseased or crossing branches. Alternatively, to produce larger leaves, cut the stems back hard to within two or three buds of the base in early spring. After pruning apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant.
